Dear Sisters,
Our May 5th Zoom meeting went well. We had 16 members who were able to join in. It was great seeing you all and hearing a little of what you've been up to.
Please see minutes from the meeting above.
We are postponing our June 6th meeting to later in the month, waiting to see what COVID restrictions are still in place. I will keep you posted.
We will be installing our new officers, getting an update on our scholarship recipient and closing out our 2019-20 year.
Good news.....our chapter's application for a LIFE grant was awarded. We received a check for $250 to purchase books for donation.
Last year we donated books to Su Casa, Lydia House, Children's Dental Health Clinic, The Children's Clinic and Orangewood.
We need volunteers to purchase the books and we will need to decide who to donate to this year.
The July International Convention has been officially canceled. Go to the website and get the details for reimbursement, etc.
In Lieu of our CA Convention, there will be a DKG California webinar, June 6th, 9-11:30 am. There will be a modified business meeting and a celebration of the 2019-20 year.
This is open to all members. You must register by May 29th. The registration link is https://forms.gle/K27tJiqV3aQYoC6C7
Information is also on www.dkgca.org
Everyone should be receiving digital DKG California Highlights. If you are not, go on the website and look at 'my account' to register.
Don't forget to send your dues to Shauna. The Treasurer position is still open for 2020, please consider volunteering.
Stay safe, stay well,
Your President,
Suzanne

Dear Sisters,
Hope this finds you all well and I'm looking forward to seeing you "virtually" on May 5th.
The executive board conducted a zoom meeting and decided to keep our May 5th date and 5:00 time to have our first
chapter zoom meeting.
I know many of you are already pros at this form of communication through online teaching, church, etc. however some,
like me, are unfamiliar with this and are unsure how to go about it. My daughter led me though the process and I set up an account for us to meet.
I have attached step by step directions for joining our meeting through my ID and Password. If you haven't done this before you can practice
the steps BEFORE May 5th. If you want to call me we can do it together by phone. You do need to have Chrome available on your computer.
My account is free so we only have a 40 minute time span for our meeting before it automatically stops. Since I would like to spend the majority of our
40 min. to connect with each other (about a minute each depending upon our attendance) our business portion will be kept very short. Please read the attachments above and have any questions ready.
One question you all may have about our May Financial Report is why we have two disbursements for our scholarship donation to CSULB. When we sent this year's donation for 20-21 they informed us they did not have
a record of receiving our 19-20 donation (our selected recipient did receive our scholarship). Shauna went back and checked her records and confirmed they were correct. I take full responsibility for this as I took over as
Treasurer when Shauna was on maternity leave and totally missed this since they don't send out a billing each year. The money has been in our account balance the entire time so it doesn't change our budget.
Dues for 20-21 need to be sent ASAP $120 Active and $60 Reserve to Shauna Grover 5242 Vallecito Ave. Westminster, CA 92683
I have not yet heard from the LIFE committee about the grant I applied for purchase of books for donation.
I have heard from CA state and the CA State Convention has been CANCELED in Santa Clara. So far the International Convention in July is still pending.
The Area XII conference is still pending. We will have our own installation of officers in June if the Area is unable to have it this year.
Depending on the status of state restrictions our June 6th meeting may be moved to later in June.
Stay well, stay safe,
Your President,
Suzanne

Dear Sisters,
Everyone who could, met at Hawaiian Loft in Torrance for good conversation and delicious food! Thank you Sumie for suggesting our pre-meeting lunch place.
We then traveled right across the street for a joint meeting with Kappa Gamma. The meeting was very informative and gave us a chance to meet members of this new chapter from Area XI. They presented a program about Osteoporosis which highlighted ideas for diagnosis and treatment using Eastern vs. Western medicine.
Since we did not have a 'formal' business meeting in January we have a lot to cover at our February meeting (speakers and Jared Box project etc.). Please read the attachments and bring questions/comments with you.
We need to vote on our revised chapter rules. I sent these to you on Jan. 9th. Since that time I received a communication from the state bylaws chair that there was another revision and to please make this change in our rules.
It is under the Audit heading and the change was to delete the treasurer would be part of the audit committee. I have attached the revised version for you to save.
We need to vote on our slate of officers for 2020-22. Each of these members has graciously accepted the nomination committee's recommendation. The recommended slate of officers is: Co-Presidents - Kim Goforth and
Shirley Lamphear, First VP - Maria Lopez, Second VP - Elaine Hoffmann, Recording Secretary - Lisa Wood, Recording Secretary - Carey Von Gremp. Since the position of Treasurer is an appointed one the newly elected Presidents will take care of this.
Our new officers will be installed at the Area XII Conference on April 4th. Please plan on attending to support our officers (see invitation attached). Your payment for attendance ( $30) needs to be given/sent to Shauna Grover by March 1st.
Make your check out to Gamma Zeta and mail to 5242 Vallecito Ave. Westminster, 92683. Our chapter is responsible for the registration table and name tags on the 4th. Each chapter again needs to turn in a $25 gift card and put together a basket/s for silent auction....theme??
Outstanding Student Teacher Awards will also be presented by the area on April 4th. If anyone knows of an outstanding student teacher please let me know.
Bunco is coming (March 10)! Sue will be going over details and sending around a sign-up for various responsibilities.
Thank you to all who responded to Karen about items for Jared boxes. Please bring everything on February11th.
See you soon,
Your President

Our speakers, Susan Lissi and Joni Williams from WomenHeart left us with valuable information about women's heart disease that included three important points; educate yourself about your heart health and get specific baseline data, advocate for yourself, do not let your doctor pass events off as something else and be proactive, don't wait to get help! For more information go to www.womenheart.org
Karen has already sent the Evite for our Dec. 10th meeting. If you did not receive it please contact her ([email protected], 562-760-2884). This will be a POT LUCK dinner. Paramount will provide drinks and settings. PLEASE BRING a dish to share.

Dear Sisters,
Our October meeting was filled with lots of information and Gamma Zeta business.
Thank you to Angela for hosting and preparing a delicious dinner!
Please read the attachments. Make note of any revisions/corrections to the minutes and bring them to the November meeting.
Also attached is Draft #1 of the 2018-19 Yearbook. Our standing rules are on pages 12-22 with the changes we went over at the meeting in red. Please review these so we can vote in November. If you were not at the October meeting please take a look at your personal information (directory pages 27-33) and send me any corrections needed.
Some of you might be interested in a couple of Chi State opportunities available with a November 1 deadline. Go to the dkgca.org website and you will see them on the home page.
Our program for November is speaker Susan Lissi from WomenHeart: The National Coalition for Women with Heart Disease. We have $25 budgeted for speakers and would like to pass an envelope for additional donations to thank our guest for coming.
Remember, please respond to the Evite for our meeting as soon as it comes so Shauna will be able to plan accordingly.
Looking forward to seeing you,
Your President
Suzanne
