Scholarship committee (Irene Lonergan, chair)
Irene provided members with background on Gamma Zeta’s scholarship 20-21 scholarship recipient is Amanda
Diaz. She is a child development graduate and preschool teacher who is transitioning into elementary education.
Irene will reach out and invite her to the November meeting. Claudette Bowie read a gracious thank you note
from Amanda regarding the chapter’s support.
A discussion was held by members on the future funding of an individual scholarship recipient due to the impact
COVID restrictions may place on fundraising efforts this year. Member Sumie Imada had generously committed to
support individual funding for 2021-2022 (2,250 minimum requirement) with a $2000.00 donation along with the
donations of other members to supplement.
Finance Committee (Sue Lance, chair)
Sue reviewed specific line items from the previous budget sheet in order for members to make specific decisions
on the projected budget sheet for 2020-21. Convention allocation will remain at $250.00 to provide money/defer
costs for president/delegates to attend conferences. Member recognition/gifts for retirement/pins will remain at
$50.00. A discussion was held on fundraising expenses in the form of $20.00 raffle application fee and it was
determined that the chapter will not budget for the expense but put the monies toward the annual Whole Child
donation instead.
Program Committee (Maria Lopez, chair)
Members debated and reached an agreement to table the Bunco fundraiser based on the unpredictability of
State/county restrictions. Maria shared the format for the book talk meeting where members will share a book
