May 5, 2020 Meeting Minutes
Call to Order: By Suzanne Fraser at 5 p on Zoom.
Members Present: Karen Bowen, Irene Lonergan, Lisa Wood, Claudette Bowie, Shirley Lamphear, Maria Lopez, Tammy Harter, Susan Lance, Anne Sivley, Suzanne Fraser, Elaine Hoffmann, Linda Norman, Kimberly Goforth, Carey Van Gremp, Shauna Grover, Jackie Wayman
Approval of Minutes:
Minutes from the February 11th meeting were reviewed with the line item correction of convention vs. conference under New Business. Anne Sively moved to accept the minutes and Linda Norman seconded with attending members’ unanimous approval.
Treasurer’s Report:
⬥Shauna Grover submitted treasurer’s reports for March, April, and May. The March report stated that the beginning balance was $6,747.04 with receipts for $341.23 (Spring Conference fees and balance transfer) resulting in a balance on hand of $7,088.27. The April report stated the beginning balance was $7,088.27 with March receipts totaling $1,545.00 (Spring conference fees, Bunco collection, Bunco raffle collection) and disbursements of $782.93 (LIFE foundation donation; Spring Conference gift card; PEP donation; Reimbursements for BUNCO purchases; DKG Area XII Conference ; World Fellowship donation) resulting in a balance on hand of $7,871.20. The March/April reports were submitted for approval by Susan Lance and seconded by Ane Sively and then unanimously approved to be filed for audit by attending members. The May report stated the beginning balance was $7,871.20 with April receipts totaling $1,320.00 (Spring conference fees; Dues collection) and disbursements of $3,430.00 (49er Foundation 2019-20; ; 49er Foundation 2020-21; 49er Foundation student emergency fund donation) resulting in a balance on hand of $4,441.20. May report was submitted for approval by Linda Norman and seconded by Elaine Hoffmann and then unanimously approved to file for audit by attending members. Shirley Lamphear mentioned that any member interested in assuming role of treasurer for 2020-20222 should contact Shauna Grover or herself. Shauna Grover will support the transition of the newly appointed treasurer prior to the DKG training date on June 6th at 9:00 a.m. Gamma Zeta chapter currently has 28 active members, 3 reserve members (Dottie Poole, Mary Lash, & Linda Johnson), and 1 honorary member = 32.

Old Business:
⬥Suzanne reminded members to submit their dues ($120.00 active members and $60.00 reserve members) to Shauna Grover before June deadline. If members were also submitting a donation to supplement/augment chapter charitable donations please be sure to designate amounts (i.e. $=dues $=donation) on the note line of the personal check. Shauna would prefer separate checks if possible.
⬥Life Grant pending
New Business:
⬥ Area XII conference has been cancelled. Chapter will be handling our own installation of officers during the designated meeting. Shauna Grover will be contacting members who turned in money for conference. A decision will be made regarding the redistribution of gift basket donations previously collected for the conference.
⬥Claudette gave us an update on the DKG Schools for Africa project, which has expanded over the years. Sue Lance informed members that our chapter had donated $282.00 last year to Schools for Africa and a decision as to whether or not to supplement the current collection of $65 to match these funds needs to be made. Member Anne Sively motioned to raise the donation amount to an even $300.00 with $235.00 being pulled from the chapter’s existing account. Members would have the option to offer donations to the chapter account to offset this disbursement. Linda Norman seconded the motion and it was met with unanimous approval from attending members.
⬥Attending members recognized and celebrated fellow member Karen Bowen’s 20 years of service with Gamma Zeta chapter.
Gamma Zeta chapter celebrated the nomination of member Jackie Wayman as the recipient for the Outstanding Service Member award. Jackie has been a dedicated member of our chapter in a variety of leadership roles, creating/updating/maintaining the Chapter’s website, Facebook and many hours capturing our meetings and events in photo books as our Historian.
⬥Members will be notified about the Chapter’s selected scholarship recipient in an upcoming meeting.
