Old Business:
⬥ Suzanne shared that at the last meeting it was discussed that our literacy project recipient has received her last book donations from the chapter. Shirley shared that in speaking with our contact Elida, preschool director at Paramount Unified School District, she would be happy to supply another candidate. Susan Lance mentioned that other than the initial chapter member book donation, this project evolved into a two member project which did not support our previous group project platform. A discussion among chapter members was continued regarding concerns about the fact that the previous recipient had never made contact via a note so the chapter would be aware of the success of the project. Members were polled about possible ideas such as donation to other organizations such as Su Casa, Long Beach Rescue Mission, Whole Child, different schools, etc. A motion was made by Carey Van Gremp and seconded by Sumie Imada to change our literacy project book donation to support four organizations: Su Casa, Lydia House, Children’s Dental Health Clinic and The Children’s Clinic with all members unanimously agreeing. The month for book dispersal of the approximately 400 previously collected books will be determined at an upcoming meeting.
⬥Shauna is collecting brunch money for the Area XII breakfast which is due by March 2nd.
⬥Suzanne encouraged members to bring high tea items for the Area XII chapter basket to the March meeting.
New Business:
⬥ Members voted on the chapter’s Golden Rose recipient Suzanne Fraser. Linda Norman moved to accept the nomination and it was seconded and approved unanimously by all chapter members.
⬥Kim Goforth will research possible student teachers candidates from Paramount to be considered for the DKG Outstanding Student Teacher Award.
⬥Suzanne and Linda Norman shared World Fellowship recipients from California which chapter members are encouraged to send correspondence and greeting cards. Contact information will be emailed by Suzanne to members.
The possibility of purchasing ad space in the State Convention program was suggested. Claudette shared the cost of ad space ¼ page $25, ½ page $50 and full page $100.
Linda Norman made the motion to purchase a ½ page ad which was seconded by Irene Lonergan and unanimously approved by members. Kim Goforth offered to support with the creation of a combined Chapter birthday announcement and celebration of member longevity (40+ years).
Suzanne reminded members of upcoming conferences/conventions-more information will be provided at the next meeting.

Each member needs to bring 1 or more guest/s in addition to a wrapped white elephant/$5.00-$10.00 gift for raffle . Members signed up for various duties to ensure a successful event.
