December 3, 2015 Meeting Minutes
The meeting began at 6 p.m. after enjoying a potluck dinner together at the Clearwater Building in Paramount. President Karen Bowen introduced special guests: Area XII Director, Karen Harmon; past Area XII Director, Linda Moore; Amanda Garcia, our Grant-in-Aid recipient; The Whole Child, Housing Project Manager, Vanessa Sedano; from The Whole Child, Erica Guzman; TAP President, Paramount Unified School District, April O’Connor.
The inspiration was a video provided by Kim Goforth that she uses with her classes to show ways of giving and how those acts may be paid forward to someone else.
The November 10, 2015 Minutes were approved as amended.
Treasurer Suzanne Fraser gave the Treasurer’s Report as follows:

Suzanne Fraser noted that the disbursement discrepancy on last month’s Treasurer’s Report was $9.50 for shipping and handling for an ordered Delta Kappa Gamma pin.
The Treasurer’s Report will be filed for audit.
Committee Reports
Shirley Lamphear then explained about the Starlight Theaters in Uptown Whittier Village within walking distance of The Whole Child. They offer a $5 movie ticket special on Tuesday and Thursday or they can go another day if they want. Our generous members reimbursed Shirley for family movie tickets that she bought, and many members donated AMC and Regal tickets which will be given to families that have a car to drive to one of those theaters. Vanessa Sedano and Erica Guzman helped Shirley distribute the tickets.
All Gamma Zeta and Alpha Chi members and guests worked to assemble the gifts.
President Karen Bowen returned to the meeting by thanking Angela Loya for arranging our meeting place tonight at the Clearwater Building. Sue Lance thanked Dottie Poole for her help and her husband, Bob for making the cards.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:50 p.m. with the singing of the Delta Kappa Gamma Song.

- Scholarships/Grant-in-Aids- Dr. Sumie Imada introduced Amanda Garcia and she thanked us for supporting her.
- Communications- Irene Lonergan is working on the Area XII Newsletter article about our giving to The Whole Child due in January. Shirley Lamphear visited with Mary Lash and found that she is keeping her leg elevated per doctor’s orders, but is still very busy with 4H meetings and activities at her home.
- Membership- Angela Loya acknowledged our new members attending tonight: Maria Lopez and Jessica Aragon. She welcomed April O’Connor again and hoped that she would continue to come and possibly become a member of our Chapter.
- Karen Bowen thanked Suzanne Fraser for submitting all California State paperwork and qualifying for the Early Dues Incentive of $20 that can be used for the April conference.
- Jackie Wayman will collect your Biographical Sheet at the next meeting so keep on working on them.
- Linda Norman is working on Nominations with her committee so please say yes if you are asked to take an Office.
- Leadership Retreat- Jan. 23-24 at Double Tree in Irvine. Deadline to register is Dec. 21st.
- The jar was passed to collect change for Schools for Africa.
