In attendance: President Karen Bowen, Suzanne Fraser, Jill Gutierrez, Dr. Sumie Imada,
Diana Kelly-Hernandez, Sue Lance, Shirley Lamphear, Angela Loya, Beverly Todd.
President Karen Bowen called the meeting to order at 5:40 p.m. after members and guest, DeAndra, enjoyed delicious chili with vegetables and toppings, corn bread and cookies prepared by hostess Shirley Lamphear at her home.
Diana Kelly-Hernandez presented the evening’s program. She and guest, De Andra – a junior at Lakewood High School – explained about the “Rising TIDE” program at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Long Beach, a program with which she’s been a part for fifteen years. “Rising TIDE” serves young people of all ages four days a week and offers numerous options, which include tutoring and academic support in all curricular areas, field trips, and supervised recreation. De Andra spoke of her experiences there since the age of six and how these have impacted her life.
For the inspiration, President Karen Bowen asked Bev Todd to read “Child’s Definition of LOVE,” which was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
The Meeting Minutes from October 2, 2014 were approved as sent out by Recording Secretary, Irene Lonergan.
The Treasurer’s Report was given by Treasurer Suzanne Fraser as follows:
(1) All dues have been collected for 2014-2015.
(2) Chi State has been paid all required fees.
(3) The bank balance on hand as of 10/31/14 was $4,106.19.
The Finance Committee met at the home of Sue Lance and tonight submitted a Proposed Budget for 2014-15. It was reviewed and discussed:
(1) Question was raised related to co-meetings with Alpha Chi . President Karen will ask President Raquel to join our chapter for the December 8th, January 7th, and June 6th meetings.
(2) The chapter fundraising events were discussed, and the Finance Committee will present options at an early 2015 meeting.
(3) Suzanne explained an ongoing chapter fundraiser where she will offer costume jewelry (from her mother’s boutique sold many years ago) to members and guests for a donation that will be returned to Gamma Zeta. Suzanne presented a number of pieces this evening, many of which were purchased by members.
(4) Sue and Dottie will be the shoppers for the WHOLE CHILD clothing project again this year with a proposed shopping date of the first week of December.
Angela moved that the Proposed Budget with minor adjustments be approved, Shirley seconded the motion, and it was unanimously approved.
Committee Reports:
(1) Scholarships/Awards- Sumie had no report for this evening.
(2) Program – Angela informed all about our next meeting on Monday, December 8:

Unfinished Business
President Karen reminded members to submit THAT hours monthly.
New Business
(1) Area XII Spring Conference will be on Saturday, April 18.
(2) Area XII is looking for fundraiser ideas.
(3) Let us continue to look for ways to market us as Delta Kappa members. Corresponding Secretary, Shirley Lamphear, will publish an article in the local newspaper after our December 8th meeting.
The meeting was adjourned with the singing of the Delta Kappa Gamma song.

Where: Clearwater Building @ 16401 Paramount Blvd. (park in back & take elevator to 2nd floor)
What: Dinner buffet and wrapping gifts to donate to the WHOLE CHILD.

- Any member or other organization that wishes to contribute money to this project must do so no later than Friday, November 28, and if the donation is given in the form of a check, it must be cashed prior to the shopping date.
- Jackie will contact WHOLE CHILD for names, ages and sizes for children there at this time.
- Gifts will be wrapped at the December 8th meeting.

- Time: 5:00 p.m. (the room is available at 4 pm. for set-up)
- Who: Gamma Zeta and Alpha Chi chapters
- For the wrapping of gifts for WHOLE CHILD, bring the following with you: wrapping paper, tape, scissors, ribbon.
- The City will provide tables and their coverings, all paper goods, and water and sodas.
- Members and guests will provide food as listed below:
