Committee Reports
- Nominations- Chairperson, Linda Norman announced these members will be accepting a Nomination for Office for the 2015-2017 Biennium: Linda Norman, President; Kim Goforth, 1st Vice President; Karen Bowen, 2nd Vice President; Maria Lopez, Recording Secretary; Suzanne Fraser, Treasurer; Shirley Lamphear, Corresponding Secretary. Also accepting a position is, Jill Gutierrez, Schools for Africa; and Jessica Aragon, Legislation. We will vote on these nominations at the next meeting. This information is due March 26th to Area XII to be ready for the April 16th Installation of Officers.
- Scholarships/Awards- Dr. Sumie Imada notified the members that $1,000 is due for the next school year for our scholarship recipient. It was moved, seconded, and approved for Treasurer, Suzanne Fraser to write and send the check to CSULB.
- Communications- Shirley Lamphear, Linda Norman, and Irene Lonergan shared news from Mary Lash. While continuing to deal with medical issues, she stays busy with her 4H students.
- Webmaster- Jackie Wayman said that DKG California accepts everything digitally now. She put our entire Yearbook on our Website and now additions and corrections will be easy to do. We may have the Website free if Jackie e-mails the parts of the Yearbook that would have our personal information. She would then let us know by e-mail each year that the Yearbook had been upgraded and members would delete the old copy and download the new copy. Maybe we will get a refund for the cost of the Website for the remaining part of this year, and going forward, we would save $60 a year by taking personal information off our Website and sending it by e-mail.
- Membership- Angela Loya wants everyone to bring perspective members to Bunco Night.
- Correspondence- Shirley Lamphear updated and distributed everyone’s address, phone, e-mail address, and birthday. She also sent a friendly Hello card to Dora Jacildo, our Honorary Member from the community. Shirley asked us to sign a birthday card for a DKG World Fellowship recipient, Ravit Heskiaw from Israel working on a PhD in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and we signed a Thinking of You card for Mary Lash. President Karen thanked Shirley for doing this.
- Bunco Preparations: Jackie Wayman passed out the flyers that she made. Suzanne Fraser will bring a Bunco set and Angela Loya will contribute extra dice. There will be 12 tables set up by the city at the Clearwater Building which will include drinks as reported by Angela Loya. And members will help this way: Angela volunteered to bring paper goods; Jill Gutierrez will bring pizza; Suzanne Fraser will bring salad and cookies; Sue Lance will bring a cake; and Shirley Lamphear and Irene Lonergan will each bring 8 red balloons tied with white string and weights so they don’t have to be tied on a chair; Suzanne Fraser and Jackie Wayman will collect the $20 at the door for dinner, Bunco, and a free raffle ticket, and they will sell 8 raffle tickets for $5 and 1 for $1. Suzanne Fraser will donate a tote bag and Angela Loya will donate a Delta Kappa Gamma rose scarf for prizes. A prize will be given for the highest points and the lowest points at evenings end. Members will bring a gift card or gift worth $5 -$10 for the raffle. Suzanne Fraser, Kim Goforth, and Sue Lance will have a pre Bunco meeting to go over the rules so that they may assist tables that night. We are hoping all members will come, bring someone, play, and have fun! Also, membership leaflets will be available at the door to explain Delta Kappa Gamma’s purpose. Jackie Wayman’s flyer states Bunco Night will “Help provide scholarships for aspiring women teachers in programs at CSULB”. RSVP Kim Goforth @ [email protected] by March 1st so we can plan food.
- Spring Conference Breakfast: Theme “Changing leaders…Continuing our vision” Gamma Zeta will be providing an Italian themed basket to be raffled plus a $25 gift card. Members volunteered to bring items for the basket due at Bunco party or take to Angela’s house by 3/25 for Area XII’s wrapping party:
Angela- 2 kinds of pasta sauce
Maria- Balsamic vinegar & olive oil
Bev- 4 linen napkins
Suzanne- a bottle of wine
Irene- a colander & spaghetti spoon
Karen- 4 placemats, 2 hand towels, 2 potholders
Kim- Sun-dried tomatoes
Sue-2 boxes of pasta

Karen will purchase the gift card for Olive Garden.
- Awards- President Karen suggested that we consider Mary Lash for the DKG California Community Service Award for next year which will need to be submitted by 12/1/16 for consideration.
- Order of the Rose- Our Chapter could receive this Award if we can Initiate one more new member, however after discussion, it was decided that it is too late this year to do that.
- DKG California Convention: Fresno Convention goers will be celebrating the 80th birthday of DKG California. Volunteers are needed to help with registration. Jackie will be sending pictures for display.
- International Convention in Nashville, TN July 5-9, 2016: The registration form will be printed in the Jan.-Feb. issue of DKG NEWS, or register online on the DKG website. Sign in by using your member ID as your username and the default password “dkg2014society”. Jackie Wayman, Angela Loya, and Linda Norman plan to attend.
- Profile Premier Project: A how-to video and text copy of what is needed are available on the C&P page at www.dkg.org. After our Chapter has completed this, we submit it and it will be displayed at the Nashville Convention. President Karen Bowen asked that we do this.
- Member Biographical Data Sheets: Turn in to Jackie Wayman or mail it to her.
- Schools for Africa- The jar was passed and Treasurer Suzanne Fraser collected the money.
