Chi State: Area XII: Gamma Zeta Chapter
September 9, 2013
Co-President Susan Lance called the meeting to order at 6pm after a wonderful chicken salad croissant and green salad feast prepared by Suzanne Fraser at her home in Huntington Beach. There were 12 members in attendance.
The inspirational was given by Linda Norman:
“Always be a first rate version of yourself rather than a second rate version of somebody else”.
June minutes were approved as emailed.
Treasurer’s report:
Karen Bowen collected dues from members.
If you were not in attendance or just forgot your checkbook please mail dues of $90 to Karen Bowen as soon as possible: attn: Louise Diana Linda Sue Mary Irene Juanita Karen reluctantly shared the auditor’s report which applauded her exceptional record keeping and accounting skills.
Karen filed the June 1, 2013 and June 30, 2013 financial report and form 15
Karen Bowen presented the treasurer’s report as follows:

Checking Account Savings Account Total
$1,843.56 $3,190.87 $5,034.43
Membership: Active 17 Reserve 1 Honorary 0 Total 18
Note: Our Suggested Budget for 2013-14 will be reviewed at the October 9 meeting.
Old Business
Angela and Claudette went to Branson Missouri Southwest Regional and Angela shared her experience with 600 other women (100 from California). Blisters and bandaids didn’t keep them from having a wonderful and rewarding time.
She explained the reason for the collection of money for the emergency fund. It provides $500 grants to members in need. Attending members received a limestone paper weight or coaster gift with DKG emblem. She and Claudette attended a china breaking party where they learned to make jewelry for fundraisers. She came back modeling a sample of the jewelry. Angela has the information for buying DKG bell jewelry pieces from a collection offered at the conference.
International Convention will be in Indianapolis next year.
New Business
Presidents Sue and Jackie went over the tentative calendar of meetings and programs prepared by the board at the August board meeting.
Angela will be the chairman for the Jared Boxes (20) for Miller’s Children’s Hospital Members signed up to bring items in February. For members not at the meeting please feel free to bring anything you feel might be a worthwhile item to include. Remember we need 20. Call Angela if you have any questions.
Membership brainstormed ideas of possible community involvement for our 2013-14 year:
• Host the Paramount School Board
• Community Education Health Fair in September
• Scholarship for Paramount High School students
• Little Libraries: Form committee to present information
• Meeting at the library 100th birthday celebration.
• Donate 100 books
• Recognize businesses in the community for their commitment to youth
• Shine in your community and share your pride
• Renew connections with members who are not in regular attendance
• Making and contributing blankets for Children Today from 1 yard of fabric
(L and M discount fabric store @ Ball and Knott)
Action on all above mentioned topics to be discussed at a later date.

Angela Loya made a motion and Marsha Gastelum seconded it to continue the opportunity drawing in June.
Tickets will be distributed in March.
