Membership
Angela Loya reported that the Chi State Convention will be held in Santa Clara May 2-4 and there will be an Arts and Crafts Show on Friday night. There will be 18 spots if you want to display your work, but if interested, get further information from Sue Lance or Jackie Wayman. There will be a workshop on Common Core. You might want to invite a friend to Santa Clara this year.
The February 3rd meeting will be at Angela’s house and we will be filling Jared boxes. This is the list of what members signed up for: Karen- pencil sharpeners (1 doz.);Shirley- rulers(1 doz.); Sue- deck of cards(20); Dottie- scratch pads(4); Suzanne- bracelets(1 doz.);Bev- coloring books(20); Irene -packet of stickers(20). If you did not sign up for something, bring 20 of whatever you want. We already have scissors, crayons, colored pencils, markers, erasers, and hot wheel cars.
Angela invited us to vote for Dora Jacildo as an Honorary Member of Gamma Zeta. It was unanimous to accept Dora. Initiation of new members will be at the March 6th meeting at the Paramount Library. First we will have dinner nearby. Kim Goforth will bring a menu and we will decide on two dinner choices at the February 3rd meeting. To help Paramount Library celebrate 100 years, we will present the library with gently used books. Please bring children’s books—we have enough adult books to present.
Awards/Scholarships- Dr. Sumie Imada asked the Treasurer for a $1,000 check to be sent to the College of Education at Cal State University Long Beach for the Fall 2014/Spring 2015 semesters for our new Grant-in-Aid recipient, who we will vote on in the Fall. Our present Grant-in-Aid recipient, Raeann Marti, will be invited to the Area XII Spring Conference in April or the June breakfast meeting.
