Diana Kelly-Hernandez Memorial Service May 15, 2016
Gamma Zeta sisters attended a memorial to Diana Kelly Hernandez on May 15, 2016. This was to be her 70th birthday celebration which she had planned as a fund-raiser for the after school program where she volunteers her time along with many others to mentor to low income youth in the area. Rising TIDE is a free program which is held at Marguerite Keifer Education Center at Covenant Presbyterian Church. In lieu of gifts she had requested quests contribute to the program which operates Monday through Thursday 2:30pm to 4:00pm for elementary school students and 6:00pm to 9:00pm for middle school and high school students. Unfortunately, Diana got sick and was hospitalized and then passed away quite unexpectedly before the celebration could take place. Friends and family came instead to celebrate Diana's life as a person who gave of herself quite freely and made a difference in so many young lives. She will be missed by her family, her friends, and by her Gamma Zeta sisters. Passed away April 26, 2016. Born on May 15, 1946, she earned Degrees from Humboldt and Long Beach State Universities, served the Peace Corps in Liberia, was a Social Worker in L.A. County and taught for 25 years at Lincoln Elementary in the Paramount School District. |
