Chi State: Area XII: Gamma Zeta Chapter
December 8, 2014
President Karen Bowen called the meeting to order at 6 p.m. after a delicious potluck dinner provided by Gamma Zeta members and guests. Karen thanked Angela Loya for arranging for the use of the Clearwater Building in Paramount.
Guests were introduced as follows: Vanessa Sedano and colleague representing The Whole Child Family Housing Program in Whittier; Area XII Director Linda Moore; and Jessica Aragon, our adopted new teacher from Jefferson Elementary, Paramount. Also a guest tonight was Yolanda Gonzales, our scholarship recipient who is participating in UTeach through CSULB. She thanked everyone for our support. Our honorary member, Dora Jacildo from Children Today was also in attendance and brought 60 stuffed dogs as an additional gift for The Whole Child program. She reminded us that our May meeting will be at their new site in Long Beach.
The Inspiration was hearing of all the good works being done in our community for children in need.
The November 6, 2014 Meeting Minutes were approved as sent out.
Treasurer Suzanne Fraser presented the Treasurer’s Report.

Program: Sue Lance explained the purpose of The Whole Child and that there are 25 families in the program with 59 children for whom we are wrapping gifts tonight. She and Dottie Poole bought 120 gifts with these donations:
$500 Gamma Zeta Chapter
$500 Alpha Chi Chapter
$200 Downey 4-H Chapter
$150 Sue Lance
$100 Angela Loya
$300 Gift Card from Linda Moore
Total collected: $1750. Tax had to be collected, but Target gave them a $50 discount. President Karen Bowen thanked Sue Lance and Dottie Poole for shopping and thanked those that gave extra money this year.
The gifts were sorted for wrapping and then sorted into family groups and will be transported by Vanessa Soldano and colleague for distribution to the families.
Other items shared: Linda Norman thanked everyone for the cards and emails during her recovery from knee replacement surgery and broken wrist.
The meeting was adjourned to wrap presents.
